Hunting info and help PLEASE?
Ok, I need sites that illustrate how hunters contribute/have contributed to the incline in deer, elk and turkey populations in Pennsylvania. Also, if you live anywhere else, let me know how hunters have helped increase animal populations, and any different ways that hunters help out people. This is all b/c a friend of mine doesnt like hunting, and thinks its brutal and cruel. I need help and support on this! Thanks!!!

first of all, when a hunter or fisherman buys a license, they Help pay for the nature parks and wildlife preserves, and the up keeps of these parks. Second of all, i know it sounds strange, but if it wasn’t for the hunters and the fishermen hunting and fishing, our planet would be overrun with wildlife, so it helps keep the population down, thats why there is a limit to how many they are allowed to kill or catch each year, and somettimes some of the kills go to feed the needy, they just don’t know it, they think its hamburger. i personally don’t think its right to kill them unless you have no other way to get food, but i don’t make the rules. Good luck
The Migratory Bird Hunting Conservation Stamp, also known as the Duck Stamp, is required to be purchased by all waterfowl hunters each year. It is a $20 license that 100% of the proceeds goes towards purchsing land for wildlife conservation. Since its inception in 1934 it has allowed the federal government to purchase over 1,000,000 acres of national wildlife refuge lands. The Pittman-Robertson Act, passed in 1937, put a special tax on all hunting equipment, that is used directly by the federal government for wildlife conservation. Also clubs like Pheasants forever, Whitetails Unlimited, Ducks Unlimited, The National Wild Turkey Federation are all examples of organizations developed by hunted that annual put millions of dollars into habitat preservation. I would be certain some of your state and federally owned property in Pennsylvania has been purchased through the efforts of hunters. Also hunters help people in that the money that they spend, traveleing to hunting areas, hotel rooms, sporting goods stores, etc. contributes a huge ammount of money to your state’s economy. I cannot quote figures for Pennsylvania, but here in Ohio during our one week deer gun season, hunters generated over $226 million dollars in sales, going directly into our states economy. Lastly there are programs out there like Hunters Feeding the Hungry where each year thousands of pounds of wild game are donated to homeless shelters, soupkitchens, and given to families in need. Tell your friend he needs to check the facts… if you need any more info, i have plenty……
Tell your friend that hunters asked for a self imposed ammunition tax to help benefit wildlife and wildlife habitat. We asked to be taxed to help the wildlife!!!
Go to your state DNR website, go to the NWTF website (a local chapter site if possible), go to a PA state college’s website that works with the PA DNR.
In Ny state we have the Department of Enviormental Conservation that regulates deer hunting ect.. I get all the info I need from there website. I ‘m sure PA has the sametype of web site.
just check with you fish and game wildlife office they can help you to convince your freind whats going on
Hunting isn’t just about the kill. I like to consider myself a good hunter and i love to get out and enjoy nature. But to the point of harvesting an animal you have to respect that God put animals on this earth to feed. If your friend will stop and think something they eat has been killed. But there is an excellent feeling about harvesting a animal not only for prize but for the chance to provide for yourself.
It could take hours to answer this questions. The Fees paid by hunters all over the country go towards habitat replacement and helping all wildlife. Your Friend eat meat, ask him how brutal it is to run cattle into a pen and slaughter them. We have more Deer and other wild game now than we ever had, thanks to the hunter.
contact your wildlife biologist or game warden in your arear
See Ducks Unlimited and see NWTF see Rocky MOuntain Elk Foundation the NWTF was tantimount in bringing back the wild turkey from extinction it is now has huntable populations in 49 states. that is one example for sure. Whitetail are another sucess story probably too good. at one time whitetail deer were hard to find. hunters and sportmen have improved habitat over the last 30 years to the point whitetails are so prevelent it is almost a hinderance
