The problem with foreigners is they fail to understand to what degree the hunters ensure the protection and health of game species and surrounding habitat. Turkeys ARE magnificent, and they have made a huge comeback thanks to hunting. They owe their continued existence and health to the hunters that hunt them.

The shooter was using a Rem1100.
I do not know what load it was. I was just filming. The shooter and partner was off to my right 25-30 yards.

great video by the way, I can never get em to strut like that. Problem is the damn mesquite bushes and trees are everywhere so as soon as you see ‘em you better shoot or you’ll never get a shot. Nice looking bird though nearly took his head off, awesome beard

  20. BSwanson1985 on September 25th, 2009 11:24 am

I got two last weekend. On the second one I was hiding in a mesquite thicket and my shot was obstructed by a big bush. I moved a little to get a better angle and the tom started running, so I stood up and he flew up then boom!!! took him 20 ft out of the air 30 yards in front of me, #5’s straight to the head. Rio Grande turkey hunting in Texas is the best, although our beards aren’t as long as the Eastern
