I am a new hunter and I’m trying to find privet hunting land in Minnesota. But I don’t know where to start. I’ve looked at the DNR website and all they say is Be a safe and ethical hunter. One of the things that I don’t want to do is go door to door asking people. Are there any websites that people can list open land? And does anyone have tips for talking to landowners? I want to do Turkey, Deer and small game if possible with same landowner. So please any suggestions will help.

Thanks!!!

Privet hunting is very restricted in all states. Also be very careful when approaching one you have shot, they are very aromatic even before they are shot. Also sometimes they have occupants that may just shoot back if they are shot at.

If you don’t want to go door to door and ask you may have to lease some ground. Put a wanted add in the paper in the area you wish to hunt. There are alot of adds around here that say wanted farm ground to lease for hunting. Good luck. Also, if you have extra time you can get in with land owners pretty tight by working for local farmers part time. Answer a wanted add for part time farm work, it’s hard to tell some one they can not hunt after they just helped you put up a private fence. If you don’t want to pay or work for hunting ground you might be better off sticking to public ground.
