Hens do strut sometimes, Great calling too and great video
ive seen one strut
yeah, thats one of the best diaphragm callers ive heard
Yes, hens do strut. Had one strutting, purring, and making a strange squaking noise around my decoy for about 20 minutes. This was in monroe county Ohio. It is documented by wildlife biologists.
ya that is a jake hens dont strut
Plus, listening to the guys work the diaphram, I’d say they know what their doing and talking about. Excellent calling. Ive been calling for years and still cant purr consistently like that.
Yep, shes a hen alright. For those who are saying its a jake, Ive seen a hen strut with a couple of gobblers before. Look at the fan, there are more than 5 mid-tail feathers on the fan. It’s most definitely a hen, just look at the head.
I raise wild turkeys. I raise domestic turkeys. Very rarely but does happen one of my hens strut to show dominance with the other hens and the poults. They do get beards at times and can even get spurs. The bird you are calling is a very late hatched young jake. The head on a hen is more feathered. Nice calling job though.
hate to break it to YOU two(nimrod beaver) but me and my wife own turkeys and the hen struts sometimes. Just like some (small percentage) of hens DO have beards. If you don’t beleive me I have pictures of ours doing it.
I agree…..It’s a real late jake..Born late in the season….A youngin…Hens don’t strut boys..
I hate to break it to you fellas, but thats just a real young jake.
Very strange… Sweet video though.
