Not a question, just a comment.

After taking the boy out for youth season last weekend, and going out this week for the opener, I’ve about had it! :) The ol’ knees sure are happy it’s over for awhile. No turkeys, but plenty of gobbles and sign. I have counted over a hundred deer, 8 raccoons, 6 zillion squirrels, and 2 coyotes. I think I should just take a camera into the woods and start my own nature show instead of hunting.

Have a safe and successful hunt.

I know what you mean. I went out on opening day, heard two gobbles, and saw ten deer. Didn’t see one turkey, though. I still have over a month left of season, though, so maybe I’ll be able to get one.

Since you didn’t get a shot at a gobbler, did you get a chance to pop a few at the coyotes? I know what you mean about the squirrels. There are thousands of them in the woods I hunt. lol. They are funny to watch sometimes. You might call National Geographic and sell them your footage.

Couple days ago was start of the Missouri season and honestly I swear I heard about 500 gobbles in two hours it was unreal. Went out yesterday not as many gobbles but enough and had one coming and then i seen 4 deer working their way up a hill and always looking back then all of a sudden I seen why. Coyote appeared then another and another till there were 6 that’s the most I’ve ever seen together at one time. I thought I’d have some fun and use my slate and striker and entice them up for a turkey dinner. Called them right up within about 20 yds of me.

Thanks, My first two days of hunting I saw 6deer, 2 coyotes, several geese and ducks, even a redtail hawk that divebombed a group of 4 turkeys. On my third day I was luckey enough to score a nice gobbler. 20 lbs. 9 3/4 inch beard, 1 1/16 inch spurs. I consider myself luckey to have experianced all of them!!

I got one but it took 35 mins of calling and putting up with bitting insects!!You sound like you had a Great time seeing Mother Nature. That’s the best reason to hunt.
I learned patience is a great virtue in Turkey Hunting.
